**Travel Diary – David’s Journey to Edinburgh, Scotland**
**Date: April 5, 2025**
**Location: Edinburgh, Scotland**
Today marks the first full day of my trip to Edinburgh, and I can already tell that this city is unlike any other I've visited in the UK. From the moment I arrived at Waverley Station, I was struck by the mix of old and new that defines this beautiful capital.
The weather was a bit chilly, but it only added to the charm. As I walked through the streets, I couldn’t help but admire the architecture—tall buildings with intricate stonework, narrow alleys, and the ever-present silhouette of Edinburgh Castle looming over the city. It feels like stepping into a storybook.
I started my day with a visit to the Royal Mile, the main street that runs through the heart of the Old Town. The cobbled streets were bustling with tourists and locals alike. I stopped by St Giles' Cathedral, which has a fascinating history and stunning stained glass windows. I also had a quick coffee at a cozy café called The Elephant House, where I learned that J.K. Rowling wrote parts of the Harry Potter series. That made me smile!
In the afternoon, I took a walk up to Calton Hill. The view from the top was breathtaking—Edinburgh's skyline, with its mix of historic buildings and modern structures, stretched out before me. I sat on a bench for a while, just taking it all in. It was peaceful, and I felt a deep sense of calm there.
For dinner, I tried a traditional Scottish dish—steak and kidney pie at a local pub called The Witchery. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. I even met a few friendly locals who shared some interesting stories about the city.
As I write this, I’m sitting in my hotel room, reflecting on the day. Edinburgh has a unique energy—it's both ancient and vibrant, quiet and lively. I feel lucky to be here, and I can't wait to explore more tomorrow. Maybe I'll visit the National Museum of Scotland or take a tour of the castle. Whatever I do, I know it will be unforgettable.
Until tomorrow,
David
