**Travel Diary – David's Journey to Edinburgh, Scotland**

Today marks the first full day of my trip to Edinburgh, and already I'm captivated by the city’s charm. The moment I stepped off the train at Waverley Station, I was greeted by the sight of the iconic Castle Rock looming over the Old Town. It felt like stepping into a storybook.

I started my day with a walk through the Royal Mile, the historic thoroughfare that connects the castle to the Palace of Holyroodhouse. The cobbled streets, narrow alleys, and centuries-old buildings gave me a sense of walking through time. I stopped by St. Giles’ Cathedral, where the intricate stained glass and ancient architecture left me in awe.

Lunch was a traditional Scottish meal at a cozy pub called "The Witchery," located beneath the castle. I tried haggis, neeps, and tatties, which was an interesting experience—savoury, hearty, and definitely not for the faint of heart! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, with live music adding to the charm.

In the afternoon, I explored the Old Town and stumbled upon the Grassmarket, a vibrant area filled with independent shops, cafes, and street performers. I picked up a few souvenirs and enjoyed a cup of tea while people-watching. Later, I made my way to the National Museum of Scotland, where I learned about Scotland’s rich history, from ancient clans to modern innovations.

As evening fell, I took a stroll along the Water of Leith Walkway, a peaceful path that runs through the city. The sun was setting, casting golden light over the water, and it was one of the most serene moments of my trip.

Tonight, I’ll be staying in a boutique hotel in the New Town, known for its elegant Georgian architecture. I can’t wait to explore more tomorrow—maybe visit Arthur’s Seat for panoramic views of the city or check out some local galleries.

Edinburgh is everything I imagined and more. It’s a city that blends history, culture, and natural beauty in a way that feels both timeless and alive. I’m already looking forward to what tomorrow will bring.
