**Travel Diary – David's Journey to Bath, England**

Today was my first full day in Bath, and I can already tell that this city is something special. I arrived early in the morning by train from London, and as the train pulled into Bath Spa Station, I was greeted by a peaceful, historic skyline. The city feels like it's been frozen in time, with its Georgian architecture and cobbled streets.
After checking into my cozy boutique hotel near the Roman Baths, I set out to explore. The first stop was the Roman Baths, which are one of the main attractions here. Walking through the ancient stone arches and seeing the remains of the Roman temple and bathhouse was like stepping back in time. I learned a lot about the history of the site and how the Romans used the natural hot springs for healing. I even tried the mineral water from the spring — it’s a bit salty, but strangely refreshing!
In the afternoon, I wandered through the Royal Crescent, one of the most iconic landmarks in Bath. The row of 36 terraced houses, built in the 18th century, is breathtaking. I sat on the grass in front of them and just took in the view. It’s easy to see why Jane Austen loved this place — it has such a refined, elegant feel.
Later, I visited the Bath Abbey, a beautiful Gothic church that dominates the city center. The stained glass windows and the intricate details of the architecture left me in awe. I attended a short service and was struck by the quiet, spiritual atmosphere inside.
For dinner, I found a small, family-run restaurant called "The Crown and Thistle" near the market square. Their menu featured local ingredients, and I had a delicious plate of steak and kidney pie with a side of mashed potatoes. The owner, a friendly man named Tom, shared some local stories and recommended a few places to visit the next day.
As I sat on my hotel balcony tonight, sipping a cup of tea and watching the city lights flicker against the dark sky, I felt a deep sense of peace. Bath is not just a city — it's a feeling. A blend of history, beauty, and tranquility that I didn’t expect to find in a place so close to London.
I can't wait to see more of what Bath has to offer tomorrow.
